Conversations in libraries around the world are turning to the value of “open” — how to provide optimal open access to trustworthy information, provision the best user experience and contribute to the future of library software. Open is about choice. As open source, open infrastructure, open research and open access begins to take priority in libraries, EBSCO considers how to best support libraries in these areas.

### Open Access

Open access is only impactful if it is trustworthy and can be found. EBSCO employs a rigorous content sourcing and curation process and focuses on the user experience so users can find the most meaningful content from anywhere and at any time. Search technology is applied to surface the most relevant and most meaningful results for any query for any user. EBSCO’s knowledge graph is continuously expanded, mapping subjects and synonyms to different vocabularies, so users can explore topics across resources and disciplines.

### Open Infrastructure

Within an open infrastructure, interoperability is key. Through interoperable platforms, libraries can choose and provide the best possible services for their users. EBSCO platforms are open for integrating third party services such as ILL, preservation systems, campus solutions, integrated library systems, authentication services, learning management systems and content purchasing services.

### Open Source

With open source, libraries have more say over the software that is used. EBSCO supports the open-source [FOLIO library services platform](https://www.folio.org/) to provide libraries with the most flexibility and choice for how library software is developed, supported and extended.
