Hello, and thank you for joining us today. My name is Julie Twomey, and I'm the marketing manager for EBSCO Books. And this is our March Mosaic Innovation Spotlight and Open Forum webinar.

This is the first session in season three. If you missed any of our previous sessions, they are available online. I am joined today by my colleague, Steph Moriarty and Mary Kay Ide.

Our agenda for today includes an update on the supplier expansion progress, our international availability, and our geographic expansion update. We'll also provide you with tips to evaluate whether Mosaic is the right fit for your library as well as telling you how to get started.

So we wanted to start by looking at where we were about a year ago. So in March of 2025, Mosaic had a really solid foundation in place. Customers could place firm orders, see real time pricing and availability, track their order history, receive duplication alerts, and access invoices and mark records all within the platform.

So we had strong visibility and efficiency built in right from the start, but we also knew this was just the beginning, and the goal was to always build something more connected and more impactful over time.

So now we fast forward to March 2026. And over the past year, we've really accelerated growth and essentially doubled Mosaic's functionality. The biggest shift has been the deeper integrations. So, for example, the ILS integrations for Alma and FOLIO plus expanded holding synchronization. So Mosaic is now much more embedded in day-to-day library workflows than ever before.

We've also made the selection experience stronger by bringing review content, licensing details, and accessibility information directly into the process. So now folks have what they need right at the point of decision.

It's been a year of meaningful progress, and we're really excited about the momentum. And now I'd like to turn it over to Steph to get into some of our other content.

**Steph Moriarty**

So today, in Mosaic, we have title by title firm ordering from a select number of e-suppliers.

An important aspect of the e-suppliers that we have is a requirement for them to participate in Mosaic is they have to be able to fulfill e-books in minutes. And so if there are any e-suppliers that take, you know, couple of days, couple of hours to fulfill things, they're not currently eligible. So they need to do development work in order to do that. So we've been working with e-suppliers to onboard them, that you'll see in just a moment who is coming. But you can do your basic searching and filtering.

A very important thing you can do in Mosaic is check the accessibility of a title and the formats prior to purchasing.

With accessibility legislation and regulations coming up, we’ve had it in the EU and coming up in the US. This is very important for librarians.

We have ILS interoperability, so we are up with Alma and FOLIO. And then in June, we will be adding OCLC as well.

You're also able to view your invoices, self-service through Mosaic. You can view your order history as well as receive customized RapidMARC records. Next slide.

So these are what we call our evaluation pillars. What does that mean? If any keywords on this screen resonate with you, Mosaic is worth a closer look.

An important, thing that we, focused on with Mosaic is the time savings, making things easier, making things more streamlined. And I know that we use that word a lot, streamlined, but we really mean that with Mosaic and keeping it simple and not overcomplicating things, not cluttering things up, making it easy on the eyes, easy to actually use.

And so if anything in this area appeals to you, we do encourage you to take a closer look. You'll see that workflow efficiency needs has been highlighted here.

Those that are currently using Mosaic, there's a common theme that has been coming out there, and its ease of use, time savings. It, quote, takes two minutes to order a title. Titles are available instantly. It's nice to be able to give a user a thirty-minute turnaround time from when they ask for a resource. And so that's why we highlighted that because it just ties back to, we wanted Mosaic to be this way, and it's nice that that's resonating with those that are currently using it.

Additionally, we hear often that staffing is an issue. You know, budget cuts are a real thing, very, prominent at this moment. And a lot of folks will say, well, I don't have time to look at Mosaic, or I don't have the time to be migrating over. The onboarding process is designed to be very simple.

Any technical workflows are also designed to be very simple. It's quick to get your ILS integration up and running, for example. You can have access within the same day. So that was very important to us as well, when working through the onboarding process for Mosaic. Next slide.

So as far as our, e-suppliers that we have, we actually have eighty percent of the e-books that are available in GOBI today plus more.

So even though we have seemingly a limited number of e-suppliers, it does make up eighty percent of our offering. We are going to be launching Bloomsbury next week.

We're just finishing the testing for that. And then in a couple of months, we'll have Cortex as well as Wiley onboarded.

We have three point one million e-books available today, and then we have almost a million or just over nine hundred thousand non-English.

A lot of those non-English titles are not available in GOBI today, so that is a unique offering to Mosaic. And we've had some libraries that will use Mosaic just for the non-English content.

As far as international availability, so as many who have been part of this webinar series know, we have been available in the United States since the beginning. That's where we started. But we've since expanded to and the Asia Pacific region. But, coming soon, we'll be launching to Australia and New Zealand, Canada, as well as the UK, and the rest of Europe.

And then teaser for our webinar coming up later this year, selection workflows are coming. This has been one thing that many libraries are waiting for, rightfully so. Selection workflows are very important, but it also takes a while to build. So we've been working very hard behind the scenes, and that is going to be coming out in June.

With that, new roles are going to be added to Mosaic. So right now, we just have purchasing power, but we'll be adding an administrator role. We'll have acquisitions, and then we'll have selectors.

So if any of this has sounded of interest or you've been coming to these webinars and you don't quite know if Mosaic is ready for you, please reach out to us. We encourage you, to explore more with us. We also have a quiz that, Julie, I don't know if you have that link to put in the chat, to evaluate if Mosaic is ready for you. So it's a little fun, thing to do. But to get started, you could scan this QR code or email us directly at <mosaic@ebsco.com>. That comes to my team, and we go through, any information that, we would need from you as well as kicking off that process to get you set up.

**Julie Twomey**

Excellent. Thank you, Steph. And I just wanted to mention, we have our EBSCO User Group coming up at the beginning of May, and we have a lot of book related content this year. We'll be talking about our new DRM solution. We'll also be talking about Mosaic and interoperability.

We're going to be talking about transitioning vendors. We know that's been a really big pain point for folks. We'll also be talking about DDA.

We know how important that is, user driven acquisitions. And then we also have a preconference workshop, which is a hands-on sort of theme. So go to ebscousergroup.org to check those out.

And we hope you enjoyed the webinar. We know it was a short one today, but we wanted to give folks an update, and we feel that's really important. You will have an email that will have links to everything that I'm talking about now. I will also pop them into the chat if you want to jump into connect or our blog or anything like that right now.

Connect is a great portal to create an account for. It has a lot of FAQs, tutorials, and that's for all EBSCO products, not just Mosaic. So I definitely recommend that. And then we do have our monthly EBSCO books update newsletter. This is really going to be all things books. So if you're wondering, how do I stay updated with Mosaic, how do I stay updated with EBSCO books or GOBI even, EBSCO Books update is your best choice for that. And then I also recommend our blog and our social media channels.

And so we've got two more sessions of season three booked, one on April sixteenth where we will go through new partners. As Steph mentioned, we've got Bloomsbury coming right down the pipe, so you'll get some emails, from my team on that as well. Acquisition workflow enhancements and then, accessibility and ADA updates, which are super important right now, especially with everything going on in Europe. Our second program is for May 21st, and these are all on a Thursday, all at two o'clock. We try to stay consistent with that.

We will be previewing our selector workflows, as Steph mentioned, and the expanded roles. We'll be going over our choice reviews integrations. We mentioned it a couple webinars ago, but we're actually going to walk you through what it looks like in Mosaic. And then we also will talk about library history and cart enhancements.

Okay. And so that concludes our content for today. Let's turn it over to questions.

**Mary Kay Ide**

Yes, so…

**Julie Twomey**

Yeah. Go ahead.

**Mary Kay Ide**

Steph, please take it.

**Steph Moriarty**

Yeah. Sure. So I'm seeing quite a few questions about print, obviously. So that is going to be started after about eighteen months from now.

And the reason why is our next body of work is demand-driven acquisition or DDA. That is something that we have been doing a lot of product research on. We've been meeting with dozens of libraries. Some of them may be on this call here, gathering as much information as we can to inform these decisions.

One thing that a change in the industry recently has brought to light is the popularity of demand driven acquisition and the needs to have that sooner rather than later in Mosaic. And so we've made the decision to do that first.

But in the interim, in what a couple of libraries have been doing is because Mosaic is cleaner, it has more simplified bibliographic records. We call it the master level record.

And what that means is it's putting all relevant ISBNs on one single record. So if you're searching in GOBI and you search for an ISBN, you might get six search results, and you have to go through and figure out which one's going to be the one that you need to pick.

In Mosaic, we consolidate all of that and put all ISBNs on a single record.

Because we do that, we have a link on the records that say link to print in GOBI. That will bring you over to GOBI to finish that purchase. So you can do all of your discovering in Mosaic because, one, it's faster. It's easier on the eyes.

It's cleaner. It's more concise to look at, but then you can then link over to that record in GOBI to complete it. So admittedly, that is not an ideal solution. It's the solution that we have right now in the interim until we can build the full functionality for print.

**Mary Kay Ide**

Another question, Steph, actually relates to books and minutes. Jackie brought that up, and I think that touches on something you hit on earlier at the very start that as we work with new suppliers and bring them on board, we are looking to them to support our books and minutes, so, fulfillment in an hour or less.

**Steph Moriarty**

Yep. An hour or less. More often than not, it's a lot quicker than that. An hour to be safe. But, in most experiences, it's occurring within thirty minutes.

**Mary Kay Ide**

Alright. Let's the some other key questions that I've seen a few times. Yes. Questions about the replacement of GOBI with Mosaic.

**Steph Moriarty**

Yeah. Let me just read can you just read it out loud so I make sure I cover.

**Mary Kay Ide**

Absolutely. And I think there are actually a few questions they were going to ask as a follow-up. But basically, the question is that, you know, it's been shared with them that, GOBI will be replacing Mosaic. And so they're just curious about, some of the improvements, over GOBI.

**Steph Moriarty**

Yeah. So, you know, for all intents and purposes, Mosaic is a replacement in the sense of it is going to be EBSCO's one and only ecommerce platform at some point.

With that said, there are quite a few features from both ECM and GOBI that we are leaving behind. Low usage, never used at all, not pertinent. Like, there's it's never going to be a completely full replacement, and that's by design.

Obviously, we're bringing over our major components of it, title by title ordering, EBAs, e collections, print, DDA, all of that. We're taking the opportunity, however, to re envision, reimagine, redo a lot of stuff that just, quite frankly, has been broken for so many years. So the reporting that we have, you know, searches, filters, you know, making it more modern, things like that, aspects of advanced search that are never touched and never used. So, you know, there may be some things that, you know, one individual library uses that's important to them. And then there may be features that ninety nine percent of libraries use that are important to them. And so we've been working with all shapes and sizes of libraries, all different markets, all different territories to make sure that we're capturing all of that. And so, again, for all intents and purposes, it's a replacement, but it's important to note it's not actually physically a replacement.

I'm not sure if that answered the question, but that's my soapbox.

**Mary Kay Ide**

Yeah. There were some more, additional very specific print related questions, so we can follow-up with Jacob on those specific items directly.

**Steph Moriarty**

Okay.

**Mary Kay Ide**

And I'm sort of reading through these quickly.

**Steph Moriarty**

I see one question about paying by credit card through Mosaic. So any invoice that is produced in Mosaic can be paid with a credit card, but we don't have functionality at this point to input your credit card information onto the interface. So once you get your invoice, then you can pay by credit card with accounts receivable.

**Mary Kay Ide**

Excellent. Derek has a question about, specifically searching by publisher in Mosaic, like ECM, and then also sorting by year. So first, we do have we do support the ability to filter by years once you've performed a search. Searching specifically by publisher is not yet available today, but we will, in the future, support advanced searching. So searching by publisher as well as additional fields not yet supported.

**Steph Moriarty**

Well, and just to clarify that, MK, you can search by publisher and filter by publisher.

But what this person is referring to is in the ECM, we have a publisher page. So you don't have to type anything in. You can just browse a list. So the browse by publisher is not available there today, but you can certainly search by a specific publisher by manually typing it in.

**Mary Kay Ide**

Let's see. I'm scrolling through some additional questions, Steph. There's so many. This is great. The we've we're probably seeing more detailed questions than we've likely seen yet.

**Steph Moriarty**

I see one. Is there any way to get notified when Mosaic will be launched in Canada? Yes. We will be screaming that from the rooftops, when it is available.

So couple things to note there. One, we will note down your name and make sure your representative makes a note to reach out to you when it is available. But one thing that we've been finding recently with, communications that are being sent out is, make sure that you're opted in to receive EBSCO emails. So if you are unsubscribing from a specific EBSCO email so, like, if you don't want to hear about books and you're hitting unsubscribe, you're unsubscribing from any communication from EBSCO in a proactive approach.

And so what we've done, to help with that is you can and, Julie, if you want to put the newsletter sign up, in the chat, you can sign up to receive just specific products, services, market material. So Julie will put a link in that you can sign up just for our books updates, and you'll get all of the information, that is going on with Mosaic and anything else book related.

**Mary Kay Ide**

The are approval plans available now? No. They are not, but that is something that we'll be looking to support as we, start to refine the work to support print.

Let's see. Is EBSCO Holdings Inc currently working for OCLC WMS?

**Steph Moriarty**

Yes. So if you are purchasing let me let me make sure I phrase this correctly. So if you're purchasing an EBSCO eBook, for example, via Mosaic, and you already get mark records through OCLC for your EBSCO eBooks, that all remains the same.

The OCLC integration that we're talking about is the ordering API and invoicing API directly through Mosaic. So any current workflows you have with EBSCO eBooks, for example, those all remain the same.

**Mary Kay Ide**

We do have a nice comment and question about your quarter zip stuff.

**Steph Moriarty**

Designed it myself. Chad, we'll chat. We'll chat. Maybe we can get you on.

But, yes, we had done our socks. If you have been to any conferences lately or seen on social media, we have phenomenal socks for Mosaic. But we are working on some more swag that we can put out. So Julie and I will chat.

**Julie Twomey**

Yeah. And we actually have a new design coming for the socks for next year.

**Mary Kay Ide**

And I'm looking back at some of the other questions. Just know that if your question wasn't answered, we will get a direct answer back to you. Let me see. Going back to the beginning.

**Steph Moriarty**

Julie may mention it, but I'll steal her thunder for a minute. She's going to send out the recording of this webinar, and then we typically have an accompanying sheet that has a summary of the questions. Yep.

**Mary Kay Ide**

Is there a is there a cost for Mosaic?

**Steph Moriarty**

Not at this time. So get in early, get in from the ground up.

**Mary Kay Ide**

And, we do have a comment here, but folks would like to see the questions posed by others and maybe the answers.

**Steph Moriarty**

Yep. We'll make sure we do that. Yeah. Sometimes, folks are sending to everyone, and some of these are getting posed just to the host and panelists. So that's why, some of you can't see it.

**Mary Kay Ide**

There's, a question about getting notified when Mosaic will be launched in Canada. Absolutely.

**Steph Moriarty**

Yep. So that goes back to our emails, and then we'll note your name for the person that posed that for your representative to reach out to you.

And think we'll be looking for beta testers soon as well for Canada. So if you're interested, reach out.

**Mary Kay Ide**

Yes. And in fact, I am working with our alpha and then likely, eventually, some of our beta testers as well. So I'd be thrilled to work with any and all of you.

Think some of these questions we've you've already answered, Steph. Just making sure I haven't missed anything. Julie, am I missing anything?

Well, there's a lot more questions. Let's see. There's a follow-up question, Steph, about…

**Steph Moriarty**

The cost? Yeah. Yep. I'll be honest. We don't know. We don't know.

You know, obviously, with GOBI, we have pricing for all of our added services. Right now, Mosaic is basic, and we know that. And, you know, with GOBI, you get a lot more advanced features at this moment in time, and real people are running that behind the scenes, and it's not magic. You know, we have to support that.

But for Mosaic at this time where it is so basic, it doesn't justify, I guess you could say. But, again, we don't know. But obviously, if things change over time, we will communicate that, plan that, you know, nothing will come as a surprise.

**Mary Kay Ide**

Just kind of taking a peruse through. I think most of the questions have been sort of answered in your, full responses, Steph, but I'm just taking a look to see if I've missed anything.

Ah, this is a great question. Will there eventually be an option to view item details and purchase options at the same time?

There's nothing on our road map right now, but it doesn't mean that that's not, an improvement or a change we couldn't make in the future, you know, depending on the feedback. So I would say, Chad, that's a great question, and I'd love to dig into that a little bit more.

So, I'd like to reach out and ask a few questions about that. And then in the meantime, if that's something your library is interested in, then we can create an enhancement request on our end and sort of keep track of that and see how many other institutions request that design within the platform and go from there. Anything to add, Steph?

**Steph Moriarty**

Nope. That'd be perfect.

**Mary Kay Ide**

We have some additional questions, you know, very specific, like, print related functionality. So I think just, you know, as a blanket statement, just to follow-up there that, you know, as we get closer to really refining that work, you know, Steph mentioned that timeline high level.

And, you know, over the course of the next year, we'll be starting to look at, you know, what that will take and what will be involved. And so we'll be digging into, you know, what the requirements need to be for that body of work. And so we'll dig into that, and you'll, you know, hear from us as we start to, you know, form that work and then, you know, reach out to you and let you know what's going to included and when. And so, yeah, I think high level, those details are not yet available, but you'll be hearing more as we get closer.

Will you be able to upgrade licenses in Mosaic? So upgrade functionality is something that we're looking at. The exact time frame, I don't have, but that will be something that will be available, in the future.

Anything to add there, Steph?

**Steph Moriarty**

Yeah. Just to add, there's two variations of upgrades. There's going in, picking a title, adding it to your cart, and upgrading it as you go.

The upgrade pricing would be coming sooner rather than later in Mosaic, but then there's the automatic upgrade component of it where you select specific settings, and you essentially set it and forget it, and your end users do the rest. You know, their activity and their actions mixed with your criteria that you have set would automatically trigger things. So that's what Mary Kay was referring to, but the manual piece of it would come sooner rather than later.

I see a question. Are there license and or contract terms for using Mosaic? There is a terms of use.

MK, I don't know if you have it handy in Mosaic to send. But, yes, we do have a terms of use for Mosaic. And then any, you know, formal, quote, unquote, contracts are similar to what they are in GOBI today that you have a license agreement with each e-supplier. If you already have existing license agreements in place with any e-suppliers, that's easy peasy. We transfer all that over to Mosaic on your behalf. But if it was a net new e-supplier, you would have to go through that licensing process.

**Mary Kay Ide**

Trying to take a look back to see if we've missed anything that wasn't at least covered, at least partially, by, some of the other responses given.

**Julie Twomey**

Yeah. Mary Kay, I've been looking. I think we're in good shape. I think we can wrap up.

If we didn't answer any of the questions listed here, we will reach out to the to the folks that asked them. So, if you hear from us via email, that's why. So we want to thank everyone for joining us today. Again, you will get the recording in three to five business days, and we hope you have a great day. Thank you.
