Locate Roadmap

With the upcoming release of Accessibility updates, the Locate product will strive to meet WCAG 2.2 compliance across all audited pages and components, and support Title II compliance expectations.

Going forward, EBSCO Locate will continue to provide support for discovery of book cover images with assistance from Ingram.

Address Library and Location display name conflict when the library and location name are same and appear as duplicated information to the patron by presenting them independently and allowing configuration.

To allow uninterrupted authentication flow and prevent any potential redirect to generic search page, especially when a patron has selected item to place a hold, this update will allow them to continue their place hold workflow and return to the result list to continue with their discovery process.

Ensure that records, such as "no longer available" items, and "fee records" not linked to any instance, are not identified as suppressed and are not included in the suppression notification. Additionally, virtual records are not identified as suppressed so that the suppression notification does not count virtual records as suppressed, when displayed.

This release was rolled out to Locate customers in November and December 2025. It introduces a wide range of enhancements across metadata display, search capabilities, and personalization tools. See the Release Notes for a categorized summary of all features included in the Fall 2025 release.

Libraries can configure a chat service link on every Locate page, allowing patrons to contact librarians directly.

Items with no cover image can now be configured per format type, if desired, helping users visually identify item formats. Icons must be selected from a predefined library.

Locate will now support placing holds on records with holdings but no items, a common scenario for serials and special collections.
